Mould is ready

The Mould is built (albeit up in Queensland), it is being packed up and shipped down to SA so we should begin building shortly.

Masts were ordered yesterday from C-Tech, there is a 7 week lead time at the moment so we thought it wise to get in early.

So hopefully the next post is of the mould set up in my shed and us starting to cut up the core.

How many boats will come off one mould?

Designer Geoff reckons if we are careful and look after it we should get at least 4-5 boats. We're building 2 straight up, and depending on how they go we have another south aussie who might build one too. Then given people like to buy my boats pretty quickly - if there is a buyer I will sell and build another.

Cheers

Hi

I am in the UK so it wont be off this mould, have been looking with interest at this and the torture method. Trying to work out which would be easier for a guy with limmited skills.

Well, I haven't built before either. Bear in mind that there is heaps of expertise and plenty of people willing to help in the IC class and they are only an email away. As for stressed ply vs other construction, the choice is yours. Phil S has full plans for his boat online - and has ideas for how to put a sloop rig on aswell. My personal take was that I would have more chance of keeping things 'true' by building over a mould.
Maybe post your thoughts on the forum (www.intcanoe.org/forum), and see what others think on the choice of stress ply.
